Do you have chronic gut issues?

Maybe you have even done testing, run protocols and cleanses to clear your gut…..BUT

You are still suffering the bloating, the pain, constipation and brain fog?

I spoke to a lady in the USA the other day, in this EXACT position.

She is constantly on enzymes and HCL to get some form of comfort.

Not to mention a heavily restrictive diet.

Over and over, I see people that get testing, are given protocols, see short term results but long term it just seems to get worse again.

Here’s a few reasons WHY that happens.

1. Your gut ISN’T the only problem.

Now, coming from the ‘gut guy’ that might sound weird.

Yet it’s true, the gut is a massive player in health but it is interconnected on so many levels to the immune system and other cellular processes.

Thus if you just try to deal with the gut, it will fail long term.

2. Your behaviours don’t allow for good health.

There is nearly ZERO point running to supplements and protocols if you haven’t dialled in great behaviours to ensure gut health.

– Correcting circadian rhythm
– Upping physical activity (not exercise)
– Understanding the sleep / fast cycle
– Vagal tone
– Optimal cell hydration (to name a few)

3. Mindset

Many believe that you can fix physical health by giving a big swerve to mindset. Nope, not going to happen.

The reason you have the issue is also because you have a mindset that allowed it to happen to a point. You gotta do the work as poor mindset will hold back physical health.

4. The ‘quick fix‘ mentality.

People believe that ‘1’ protocol or restrictive diet will solve their issues. Nope.

Your body is not static, thus you have to be willing to look at the body as moving part that has to be treated as such.

5. Your diet is holding you back, even if you feel better on it.

As I explained to this client, just because a person is symptom free on a diet, doesn’t mean it’s good for them long term.

Especially true if that is a very restrictive diet.

6. Not understanding how cell dysfunction works.

You don’t have to have a degree in biology or biochemistry but it’s essential to know that cell dysfunction is the START of a problem, over time it becomes a ’tissue’ dysfunction (many cells).

Thus you have to understand what is negatively effecting cell health and correct it as well as the gut.

7. You use poor testing.

Testing is a minefield. Conventional testing for stool is crap at best (pun intended).

Functional testing can almost be as bad when they release tested without the proper levels testing and proof the results can be replicated.

Do your research and don’t be afraid to ask questions on why a person is using a certain test.

This is a VERY brief list.

What I want you to know is there is always a way to improve your gut, even if you are on the toilet 20 times a day losing blood like I was 11 years ago.

You just need someone that isn’t obsessed with 1 area.

Good luck.

Over the YEARS I have been Labelled the ‘Gut Guy’

Maybe it’s because I have REVERSED my own auto-immune disease called Ulcerative Colitis and have been Symptom and Medication FREE for over 11 Years now….

Or maybe it’s because Marta and I have helped 100’s of people all over the world do the same..

Frankly it doesn’t really matter to YOU right now, but what I guess DOES matter to you is how you LOOK, FEEL AND PERFORM?

Am I right? (If I am READ ON >>>)

So my intention for this post is to tie in what the GUT has to do with how you FEEL, LOOK and PERFORM on a daily basis.

Lets Start: (This will NOT be a biochemistry lesson)

We have worked with professional athletes, general populations and all the labels in-between.

The Gut is over 22 feet long and runs from your mouth to your anus.

It houses 75% of your total IMMUNE system in or around it.

It has its OWN nervous system (Enteric Nervous System) that actually has MORE nerve cells than your spinal column.

Over 400 different species (that we know of) of bacteria are in the gut and balance is CRITICAL.

It actually is home to more Neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine than the brain….

Why do I bother to even mention this? Glad you asked!

The Truth is this…

The digestive system is the entry point of the body.

It is where we break down our foods to the smallest possible parts and absorb what we require and hopefully excrete what isn’t needed.

Based on the health of the gut (If you suffer with bloating, pain, constipation, diarrhoea etc listen up!) you will affect EVERY system of the human body.

If you have issues breaking down food (Low enzymes/ Bile issues) you will ‘stress’ the gut which will start to affect the immune system.

This in turn affects your stress response in the body….

(So if you are interested in HIGH energy AND your health, this is already keeping you under achieving)

If you have unidentified Inflammation or infections then these again will be affecting your immune system AND nervous system in the GUT.

This is where I see people with ‘head issues’ like depression and anxiety.

There is a nerve in the gut that runs straight back to the brain called the Vagus Nerve.

When your gut is ‘out of whack’ it will be firing ‘hypersensitive’ signals that through of a variety of things in the brain.

(EVERY CLIENT we have every worked with that has depression or anxiety HAD issues going on in the gut.)

I could go on and on but that would be EVEN more boring.

So, here’s something important.

We get people come to us with Thyroid, hormone, diseases of various levels of severity etc and we NEVER work with the ‘THING’ they come to us with.

We DEEPLY understand that the human body is a bunch of COMMUNICATING systems that affect each other.

(Sorry conventional medicine but this is really where you drop the ball….)

We always build from the ground up.

So what steps can YOU take to improve performance, energy and body composition TODAY.

1. Work out what is going on in your gut. Do you get bloated after meals? Do you get pain, discomfort, do you suffer with constipation, gas bloating etc?

(Raising awareness is the MOST important step.)

Ensure FULL digestion of FOOD.

From there we can start to look for triggers like types of food, chemicals, stress, hydration etc.

2. Get Tested: I only have this step as a go to when someone ticks the following boxes:

– Been to a less developed country (Egypt, SE Asia, India, South America etc) AND got SICK.

– Constant symptoms of bloating, diarrhoea, reflux etc

(Testing quality is imperative: Example I had a 12 year old boy come to us and he had pain EVERY DAY for 2 years.

All tests from hospital and “the best IBS specialist in the UK” came back negative.

I test him and find 3 infections. Quality matters.)

3. Understand the digestive system works in the PARAsympathetic nervous system. Simply this is a REST based system.

So if you have high stressed jobs, lives and little time for rest you will be STARVING your gut of blood flow as you will be spending MORE time in your Sympathetic nervous system.

(That’s WHY people who have gut issues often have skin issues too)

Note: WORD on REFLUX: Reflux in 99% of ALL cases we work with is NOT high stomach acid.

It is a NERVOUS SYSTEM issue that is preventing the flap of skin (esophageal stricture) working correctly)

If YOU just concentrated on the ABOVE, I GUARANTEE you will get leaner, stronger, perform BETTER AND have more energy.

As I’m sure you can appreciate I can literally write a WHOLE book on this but I’ll stop here for now.

If you have ANY questions regarding the above or something you feel you would like me to explain in MORE detail then get in touch and let me know.

My number 1 value in life is GIVING VALUE.

This isn’t the most ‘sexy’ subject so it doesn’t get that much attention.

But it should.

If You Have Long Term Inflammation Issues – Here’s 7 Reasons Weight Loss Shouldn’t Be Your Goal.

If you struggle with:

Gut issues

Headaches

Skin issues

Autoimmune

Other inflammatory issues

Your focus should be on what we call the the Top Down Approach.

You have to make sure…

1. The brain is healthy – sounds extreme but many people have issues with swallowing food, with constipation and yeast issues.

Moreover, if you struggle with smell, taste and saliva production, these are further signs of brain dysfunction.

Much of this is due to poor signalling of the brain (parasympathetic nervous system)

2. Ensure adequate levels of stomach acid and enzymes.

As you age, with stress & infections you drive down stomach acid which ruins things like protein digestion.

Often people that say ‘protein makes me feel heavy’ are struggling here.

3. Gallbladder issues.

If you are lucky to still have this, the production and flow of bile is essential.

With poor flow, you will become deficient in fat soluble vitamins.

Meaning you will struggle with sex hormone production (and any day based hormones)

4. Intestinal valve issues.

When the above is present you are at greater risk of SIBO, a condition when you have a reflow of bacteria into the small intestine.

If this is you, you’ll find that HIGH FODMAP foods will be a real struggle for you.

5. Immune barrier (leaky gut)

Many practitioners try to fix this issue first and it’s pointless if you don’t address the above issues.

Moreover, you have to ensure your immune system is working well.

If you are reacting to lots of foods, have skin issues, migraines and such like,

Calming the immune response becomes upmost important.

6. Microbiome Diversity.

We are 100% that the diversity of the microbiome is shrinking in the western world.

Low diversity is associated to more diseases than I can write here.

When we eat the same meals all the time,

Have low fibre diets

Drink alcohol in excess

Don’t sleep well…

All negativity effect microbiome health.

7. Chronic infections (large intestine)

Your large intestine is home to a huge array of diverse bacteria / yeast and much more.

However, when we get stressed, get travel illnesses, over exercise, have a poor diet.

We fail to protect ourselves from infections, both bacterial and parasites.

I could write 10 more with ease but hopefully you get the idea why so many people struggle to lose weight

And keep it off.

That’s why on the women only WOW program we address inflammation and show you how to correct it,

As when you do.

Weight loss is EASY.

And good news, this weeks live training in the group will run you through exactly how to action the above.

Plus, if you join in the next few days you save yourself 25%

Drop us a message to see if it’s a good fit.

It’s not just a weight loss program, it’s a transformation program.

Regardless if it’s to do with thyroid, gut or brain…

We work with complex clients and autoimmune issues are at the top of nearly all complex issues.

Sadly, conventional medicine is awful when it comes to autoimmune, and you likely will just end up on immunosuppressant drugs that cause other long term issues.

I also have a personal interest in this after being symptom and medication free for the last 11 years.

So, without further ado, here’s the list (it might surprise you)…

1. Not taking dietary restriction serious

Loss of tolerance – The reality is that once you have lost tolerance to parts of your immune system, there are certain foods and cross reactors that are off the list for life likely.

Things like gluten and dairy.

Sadly, most don’t really understand autoimmune and because they only get mild symptoms when they eat trigger foods, they think its not so bad. Wrong!

Think of autoimmune like a spinning wheel, the more trigger foods you keep eating, the faster that ball spins, causing more symptoms and worse issues are later in life.

2. Don’t have a diverse microbiome

People that have started to educate themselves on autoimmune issues become aware of trigger foods and start to cut them out. As there can be lots of reactive foods, they end up on a very restrictive diet.

This reduces the diversity of the microbiome and will actually create more problems long term.

One thing we have to work on with autoimmune is oral tolerance, ensuring your are getting enough diverse fibres and foods you can tolerate without symptoms.

3. Chemical exposures

We all know we are exposed to air pollution, but sadly our homes are home to some of the worst toxins out there. From commercial cleaners, pressed woods, mould and much more.

Doing a full audit of your living conditions is essential to ensure you progress.

4. Silent infections that trigger autoimmune

There are silent infections like H. Pylori that have been proven to tigger autoimmune responses within people.

It’s very important, even if you have no symptoms to rule out silent infections as they will 100% slow your progress and chance of hitting remission.

5. Not getting enough sleep

It’s totally possible to have a great diet, good hydration, low stress AND move your body, but BAD sleep will hold you back.

You should be sleeping through the night for at least 7 hours.

6. Circadian Rhythm

This is to do with consistency of meals, light exposure and movement.

If you are irregular with meals, sedentary and spend a lot of time indoors under artificial lighting, these will all negatively affect your progress.

7. Not enough movement

Linked to the above, it’s important to move our bodies in line with what you can recover 100% from by the next day.

For some it might just be brisk walking, as where for others it might be more vigorous. However, you have to be moving your body to help bring up the bodies resilience.

8. Do things that make YOU happy / have goals / hobbies

If you feel lost in life and don’t know where you are going…

This causes stress, that stress has a potent effect on the immune system and will hold you back.

Thus making sure you have things you enjoy and are working towards are essential.

9. Unhealthy relationships

If you have very poor at home or work relationships, this stress is holding you back.

It’s very often seen that when people resolve these issues, their conditions calm down and they reach remission faster.

10. Being a passive client

This is when you go to the doctor and ask if food plays a role in your illness, they say no and you accept it.

You have to become the investigator, the chief researcher for your autoimmune issue.

Autoimmune is very very complex and it often will take years of doctors and advice to find the right approach for you.

The good news is that the help is out there, you just have to be ready to jump on board and make things happen.

P.s Note that I didn’t put supplements on the above list.

In reality, autoimmune is much more of a functional issue, not a deficiency of supplements.

Thus, when you correct the above, you’ll see a huge uptake in the quality of your life.

As ever, if you have any questions, let me know and feel free to get in touch with us
