Depression, its not the brains fault.

The lie many have been sold over and over is that depression is caused by an imbalance of the chemicals in the brain.

I’ll not go into detail here but there was some pretty sketchy science in the 60’s that laid the foundations for the multi-billion anti-depressant industry we see today.

I won’t stand here and tell you I have all the answers and know of a ‘better way’.

Yet facts are pretty clear, the drugs that are so happily handed out to people are poor at best.

The science shows us that the actual rate of effectiveness compared to placebo is minimal.

So why are they so readily given out?

That’s a long story, very long.

But as someone who has been in dark places and been around people that have been there too, I’d share this.

If you buy the story that you have a chemical imbalance in your brain and the only hope is a drug…

Here’s what happens…

You give your power away.

You essentially start a fight between you and your mind.

The fight is, body why are you doing this to me, why are you letting me down.

You become powerless, change will not happen from this place.

For me, depression is multifaceted and it’s not the same answer for everyone to move into a place where you feel happier and calm.

Yet, your physical health has a HUGE impact on how you feel..

Several GOOD studies back this up.

Emotional stress has been shown to affect parts of your brain that will reduce levels of serotonin.

Poor sleep will slow the creation of new tissue and keep low level inflammation higher.

Feeling unsure of your future and security will raise stress hormones which DO reduce your ability to feel good.

I can go on and on.

Yet I’ll finish up here.

Depression is real.

Medication can and does help people.

Yet, it’s not an answer long term.

The more you take, the more you become blunted from the effects.

In turn the more you need.

Sadly, the side affects associated with the higher doses far outweigh any possible benefits

(in my view).

There is another way, in fact there are lots.

Just some food for thought!

There are some key things that are big contributors to it that people don’t know.

1. Too much sugar in your diet

Simply put there is a delicate balance in the body of how much glucose is allowed in the blood stream at one point.

The reason being, too much is toxic, too little will see you become very sick.

MANY people in the Save Your Brain workshop have tested their blood glucose and are shocked by the scores.

Many coming up in diabetic ranges.

Like our client Lisa, she went to get her eyes tested and glasses prescription 3 times in 18 month thinking its poor eye sight.

Actually, when we reduced her levels, her sight was fine and no need for glasses.

Sounds strange but controlling your blood glucose levels throughout the day and night should be the No.1 priority.

So how do you do it?

Purchase a blood glucose monitor off line, not too cheap or expensive.

Start taking your fasted reading when you wake up in the morning first thing before you get up.

Then start playing around with it at meal times.

Many don’t realise the impact of their meals on blood glucose.

Elevations are OK, yet if you 2+ hours after a meal and you still have high numbers (over 4.9) you really should start there.

If you would like some help, we have a workshop that’s just £47 and walks you through not just how blood glucose causes brain fog but many other aspects too.

… and not like a bear with a sore head!

Women on average sleep worse than men and report more long term sleep problems (says the science).

– Would you say this is your experience, or are you a lady that sleeps great and your male partner doesn’t?

Either way, we are in a sleep epidemic right now and it should concern us all.

Sleep regulates mood, lord knows we are all horrid to be around when you’ve had a poor nights sleep.

It’s like trying to reason with a bear with a sore head, right?

There certainly are a few reasons WHY women might not sleep as well as men,

1. They often are more empathetic, compassionate and outwardly caring

Thus stressful events often play on the mind.

2. Their hormones at various times of the month (depending on health status) can throw things out.

After working with hundreds of women on their sleep and improving every single one of them, I’ve learnt several things that I see can be improved, and when they are, sleep is always better.

How you manage your food – without consistent meals and balanced blood glucose levels, they’ll always be issues with sleep. You have to start by working out how healthy your blood glucose management is, this can be done with a simple device used around meals.

Movement – Women because of social media, magazines and TV have these often impossible images being sold to them and it’s a huge pressure. Leading them to over train and under-eat the right things. The down side is when things don’t go well, binges often occur. Movement should be based on recovery, not a look of your body. Testing your resting heart rate, blood glucose levels & HRV are some of my ways to help women like you judge movement choice.

Stress – Finding ways to calm the mind, even in the most stressful of places is essential. A little stress is great for you, a LOT of stress over a long time will wreck your sleep.

Inflammation – One of the KEY reasons in those that have tried everything and still wake up between 3-5 am is unidentified inflammation. Inflammation the body burns through energy much faster, thus waking you up in the night.

Sleep patterns – 8 times out of 10 I see poor behaviours around sleep. Watching Netflix till late or in bed, going to bed at all different times, eating late at night and drinking too. These will all mess up with the quality of your sleep.

Now, you can just take the above, change them and get a better sleep…

But I am going to put on a workshop that takes the guess work out of sleep, even if you’ve always been a bad sleeper.

(this is coming from someone that was awake for hours a night for years)

I want to show you:

1. A simple to follow checklist to start getting unbroken sleep.

2. A process that takes less than 20 minutes and will improve sleep quality by 20+%

3. How to balance your blood glucose levels with the right diet for you.

4. How to stop waking up to go to the toilet every night.

If that sounds like something you need, its going to be just £47.
