Before I start, this isn’t about ‘curing’ disease.
As someone that has worked with hundreds of people with chronic illness and overcome my own, I’ve come to see some trends…
Trends that separate those that get better and those that give up and stay on medication from life, thus likely getting another chronic illness a long the way.
People are often in the victim mindset and believe that their body is letting them down. Without questioning this, you will never change a chronic issue.
People blame their family for the genes they have been passed. Yet science shows us your genetics only play a roughly 10-15% role in your outcome.
Thus, how you eat, sleep, breathe, move etc are all creating your health or disease.
Most people that come to me are not physically active enough. I’m not talking weights or hardcore cardio, I’m simply talking about people even walking each day to stimulate important processes in the body.
Many people with chronic illness have poor sleep hygiene, they go to bed too late, they’re on electronics till late, not consistent with their sleep / wake times.
Your circadian rhythm regulates your immunity in a big way. When sleep is poor, so is your health.
When people have chronic health issues, there are certain foods that are going to cause issues in the body, not forever but certainly during inflamed periods.
Diet is essential to recovering from symptoms.
Not drinking enough quality water will over time cause more and more issues with health. Combine that with just drinking standard city sourced water that is devoid of trace minerals, you’ll struggle to hydrate your cells.
Alcohol, when broken down creates a by-product that is toxic to your body. I don’t care how much ‘antioxidants’ you think are in it, with chronic illness, alcohol is making it worse even if you drink only 2-3 times a week.
When you put others needs before your own, whether that’s food or otherwise, you sacrifice your needs.
Stop it otherwise you just get resentful and it boils over.
People often lack on their vegetable intake in their diet and this leaves them without necessary nutrients to fuel essential cell functions.
When we breathe through our mouth we struggle balance levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide. This is a big problem as we require both to power the cells.
Simply, breathe through your nose.
Picking the easy option over the harder option ruins health. Picking to eat the cake every day after every evening meal or picking sweets to sit in front of the tv with.
To improve health they’re must be an eye on the long game.
People lack a clear plan of how to get symptom and med free. Thus they drift and convince themselves that nothing can be done.
Medications for chronic disease are nothing but symptom suppressing which end up dis-regulating other pathways and systems.
It takes conscious effort to plan meals, to fit in calming exercises. If we don’t prioritise our time we will simply get swept up in life experience.
We give too much power to doctors, believing they have all the answers for our bodies. When we do this we disempower ourselves and it doesn’t give us an ability to take control of health.
Often I find people jumping from one thing to another in the hope for a magical cure.
To improve a condition you have to be consistent over time. End of.
Most people work on ‘the gut’ or the ‘thyroid’ etc This will lead to short term wins and long term frustration.
Your body is only as strong as your weakest link, thus you have to build strong foundations in all areas of the body together.
We can take life too seriously and forget we are all going to die soon enough. So laughing is good for your immunity and your overall health.
Sweating is essential and a very important way to clear things out of the body. Not sweating over time will be an issue for many.
Whether mental, emotional or physical, stress is stress on a physiological level. When you hold high levels of stress you will be starving your body of essential pathways that have been proven to lead to illness.
Now, this isn’t an exhaustive list.
Its just some observations, not all will apply to everyone but if you correct the ones you DO currently do on this list, you’ll improve.
You have the power to be symptom and medication free from chronic illness.
Its not IF its WHEN.
You just have to make a decision to change.
