Here are 6 things that you are likely not doing consistently enough and if you did, you would feel MUCH better.
As in, sleep better, feel less stressed and lost that stubborn weight.
Before you ‘skim read and say ‘ i do that’ – Be honest, how often do you NOT do these day in and day out?
1. Hydration.
People don’t drink enough good quality water. Period.
2-3 litres for the average folk is ok. (If you have NO kidney issues, add a little pink Himalayan salt (or similar) to each litre of water for mineral uptake) – Tap water is VOID of many of the essential minerals we require for optimal cellular function.
Your human body is made up of a majority of water and its hydration level is one of the simplest things you can do to improve productivity and performance.
2. Sleep
People are not consistent with bed routines, going to sleep at all different times, waking several times a night etc
If you wake in the night you have a few possible issues, poor blood glucose management and / or an over burdened system (via low level inflammation). You will want to sort your diet out, consistency of meals and environmental exposures.
Also, if you are on electronics in the hour before bed you are self-sabotaging your own goals.
Want to wake up energised and in a good mood? – Consider the blue light from electronics messes with a finely balanced circadian rhythm, thats bad news fyi as it interrupts your ability to produce melatonin (your sleep hormone)
3. Movement
This is essential but in today’s western ‘CrossFit’ / gym world people are hammering their bodies without adequate support (Nutrition / sleep / hydration)
Stress is stress, only perception changes its effect. If you stressed out by…being financially worried , poor sleep, lack time, hate your relationship…
then NO CrossFit / gym 5 times a week, twice a day…ain’t a good thing long term (nothing against CrossFit, people just often know of it)
It’s imperative to consider the health of connective tissue, the activation of the nervous system and choose movement that benefits you best.
Honestly the CEO’s and high performers we work with are often stressed in so many areas that we can actually pull their gym training back to maybe 1-2 sessions a week with some yoga / pilates / stretching in between and they actually SPEED UP progress.
4. Food
Sounds simple but honestly 95% of educated people we mentor or coach still do not eat in a way that supports their body. Maybe they have large gaps in their meals when it isn’t working for the body, lower than adequate protein / fat / veggies etc
Lastly, unidentified diet induced inflammation. In simple terms even perceived healthy food can be hold you up back.
Take me for instance, I have a chemical sensitivity that essentially meant I couldn’t not eat fruit & vegetables…sounds crazy but true.
I don’t know of one way to eat that suits everyone
5. Emotional / physical stress
In today’s world we are overwhelmed, pressure from family & society to always be at our best, the perfect unbreakable version.
Yet I know there isn’t a single person that doesn’t have anxiety, doubt or worry from time to time. How we frame it and how we act with it (or not) is often Make or break for health.
We are told to ‘harden up’, to ‘get on with it’ when really this approach which relies on suppression is in part why things like the ‘mid life crisis’ exist. How long do you think you can deny the desires to experience life outside of a corporate world, or working 10 hours a day?
If you can’t list things that you give to yourself before you try and give to others, it won’t end well.
You’ll end up stressed out, resentful and bitter.
Note. This was emotional AND physical stress. Those physical stresses are from things like long term injury and inflammation. Truly a hidden issues for many and a key reason they struggle to hit peak performance.
6. Environmental / toxicity
Did you know that diesel fumes have been shown to inhibit you starting the detoxification process, that’s pretty scary if we live in a city eh?
Now it’s not just one thing, it’s many but people that have live or do live near power stations / nuclear sites, communication masts and such like have MUCH higher levels of inflammation that people that don’t.
Scratch that, even science shows us the disturbance that things like 3G, 4g and 5g have on our physical body and mind.
You are exposed today to things that harm you more than ever, science used to say that the devil is in the dose, not true. Studies have shown that a low dose is just as damaging as a high dose.
So don’t be ignorant, turn electrical off when not used like WiFi l, phone on flight mode etc
So these are just a couple of action points I see in a majority of clients that Marta and I work with, by no means an exhaustive list.
Start by overviewing yourself in each are, be honest. I’m sure we can all be a little more consistent.
